Phone Scam from kononnya "AMBANK"

SO! here's a serious post. Well, you can read it with a relax mind and mood but I really want to share this experience with everyone.

The whole thing started at 28 Oct 2013 (Thurs) around 4.30pm, I was in uni editing a video with friends and I received a call from +1300808888. Without hesitation as I think is just a call so I answered and a machine-automated voice said there's a transaction of RM3000+ performed from my AmBank credit card on that day so I talked to the operator on the phone and not kidding, I was panic as I don't know what's going on and that's not a small amount. I'm sure I've not apply any credit card or whatsoever and at that time I not sure whether the AmBank account I opened when I was so young still exist or not. I explained everything I heard just now to the operator and he said according to the computer data, I've applied a credit card around August at KL using my name and IC, they called me this time because the transaction amount is big. The MOST shocking thing I heard from the operator is that I've accumulated RM6000+ since August. At that moment I was like "damn that person who used my name and IC!" I asked the operator what can I do if that's not me who make that transaction, and he asked me to call Bank Negara Malaysia. So I called the number he gave me and still the same, an electronic automated voice asked me to choose the language, so I chose English but when the phone operator at BNM answered the call, he speak BM. At that moment I didn't suspect anything, I was panic and pissed off so I explained everything again to the BNM phone operator. He told me he will call me later and the conversation later will be recorded as evidence in the court. He took my details then ended the call. I was worried and panic so I called my mom and explain the whole story AGAIN, surprisingly she was rather calm and in the end of our conversation she told me not to answer any anonymous call later because that's phone scam! Honestly, I was "ding"! enlightened at the moment when "phone scam" came out in the conversation. I checked with my mom about my AmBank Acc but she said I've cancelled it long time ago. I remained quiet for few sec and ended the call. I checked online on BNM phone number but as expected is not the number the "AMBANK" guy gave me. I check the number he gave me 03-27885082, and tadaaa! That't definitely not the number of BNM. I felt so dumb dumb for being fooled and even made the call. =.=

So how dp I know that's a phone scam? I saw a post when I searched the "fake BNM number" --> Another Case , I read and it's exactly the same as what I've experienced just now. The only thing that is different is that the guy didn't call me again for the "recorded conversation". You all can read the whole thing in the website I found.

Now that when I think of what I've heard that time, the 2 "phone operators" sound the same. I feel so super duper stupid after the whole thing. Lol I'm still so glad that I called my mom.

So people, be careful not to expose any personal details to any anonymous person. I've heard and see lot of phone scam cases before, even my parents told me to be careful but seriously I was so unaware when I was the victim.

Gen-Y Music Festival, organised by Music Society of the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) ! This is an interesting and meaningful event as part of the total profits in this event will be donated to the charity. The beneficiary societies are Penang Hospice Society, National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), and Climb for Life. 

Throughout the whole night, you are ensured to have the "ear" candy from various talented young local artists/musicians and upcoming bands that deserve a bigger audience. You must have heard some or maybe all of them before, spot their names here!

The ever talented famous beatboxer in town and he's also famous in international platform! Shawn Lee!  Born in 1991. Beatboxing is Shawn's passion. He's currently Asia's NUMBER 1 beatboxer and he made it to Top 4 in Beatbox Battle World Championship 2012!

An Honest Mistake will be performing too! The band is make up of 5 young and energetic members. They have been making waves for the past two years with their mix of addictive pop-punk with swirls of frenetic screamo, and with a second album already in the works, their domination of your eardrums is set to continue in 2011 and beyond.  

Ke Qing. A young gen-y local artist. She has been to lot of tv shows or events, you might see her performed in lot of music festivals or music shows in Astro before. She has her own album came out in 2012. Do check out her music!

The Lone Ranger

Hiyaaa!! Another movie review! Thanks to Klips Malaysia for the special screening invitation! ;)

I watched The Lone Ranger and it was in my expectation, is Great!!

Here's the storyline:
From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, comes Disney/ Jerry Bruckheimer Films' "The Lone Ranger," a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice-taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

As you can see from the storyline, the film making team of the blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean" is now working together again to make another "Johnny Depp" movie. When I said "Johnny Depp" movie, I believe many of you can guess 70% of it. Ya, something to do with unique costumes and special makeup. This is what I expect when Johnny Depp is in the movie. 

Though he always dressed up in those unique costumes for different movies, he never failed to impressed the audience or at least I'm impressed with all his looks! ;D In Lone Ranger, he nailed it again! His American Indian look is a bonus to his acting as costume can gives the actor confidence to act the role in the movie. The other male character "John Reid" in The Lone Ranger, Armie Hammer who's known for his role in the movie Mirror Mirror, has acted his role well and brings highlight to the movie. He didn't act in a lot of movie but he played his role well in this movie, his character didn't get outshine by Johnny Depp, in fact he did helped a lot in this movie. 

The storyline is kinda special as we seldom see movies with a town lawyer (Ranger) getting along with a native american and the good guy decided to seek for justice in another way. I kinda like the train scenes in this movie, there is not many train scenes in movies that are memorable but I certainly remember this one. It's not only few secs or few mins but they didn't make it a boring one by just showing people fighting in/on a train but they added some funny elements as well. With the Lone Ranger theme song playing in the end together with the train scenes, is just awesome! but maybe they can make the pace faster to make it more intense! Aside from that, the flow is just normal and average, it doesn't has too much of surprise but the train scenes and those jokes save it.

Overall, I think this is a nice movie to watch when you want to kill time.

White House Down

I was invited to White House Down premiere screening last week and know what? The movie is awesome and Channing Tatum is extremely HOT! haha

So here's the synopsis for the movie:-

Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx).  Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group.  Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it's up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.

This movie is directed by Roland Emmerich who's known for his works on the big screen worldwide "Independence Day" "The Day After Tomorrow" "10,000 BC" and "2012", so you can expect this movie to be a good one and it won't let you down. 

Before I watch WHD, I heard from others that this movie is similar to Olympus Has Fallen which released not long ago this year. Though I have not watched Olympus before so I wasn't really know what's going to shown on screen but if you've watched Olympus before and find it nice, perhaps this is a good movie for you too!

For me, I was kinda excited to see Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx worked together in a movie, I wonder what kind of chemistry are they going to show in WHD. By watching at the trailer, it doesn't really attracts me but maybe this is the reason I find this movie is nice, it surprised me in the cinema instead of the movie trailer. This is an action movie but it doesn't keeps it consistent tone until the end of the movie, Jamie Foxx was chosen to be in this movie for a reason and I think Emmerich carried out that point successfully as President Sawyer (Jamie Foxx) has cracked few jokes in the movie and that's a highlight of the movie. It makes the audience to chill their mind for a bit from those adrenaline rush scenes and it portrayed that the President is a human too with some humorous side of him (the Air Jordan scene is unforgettable xD). Both John and President Sawyer might look like they are from a totally different world as one is the President of America whereas John is just a guy who wants a stable job but actually they are no difference in the way that they are both father to their lovely daughters. At the end of the day, they did all for the people around them, to protect them and make them proud, the nations and the daughters.
